What is the NTMA?
The NTMA is the National Treasury Management Agency.
The NTMA was established in 1990 to borrow for the Exchequer and to manage the National Debt of Ireland which includes all funds invested in State Savings™ products.
In addition to managing the State Savings™/National Debt, the NTMA’s remit has grown to include the management of both assets and liabilities on behalf of the Irish Government.
This includes:
- National Pensions Reserve Fund
(as agent for the NPRF Commission)
- National Development Finance Agency
- State Claims Agency
- National Asset Management Agency (NAMA)
(Operates as an independent commercial entity
under the aegis of the NTMA)
